One such ad ran by Dr. Mehmet Oz tries to portray Democrat John Fetterman as a freeloader. 'Thank goodness for daddy's deep pockets' the ad says 

Fetterman is locked in a tight Senate race with Republican, Dr. Mehmet Oz. The  tied at 46 percent. 

Earlier polls showed Fetterman with a steady lead. 

The state is also hosting a governor's race that isn't nearly as competitive, with Democrat Josh Shapiro leading the Trump-backed Republican, Doug Mastriano, a state senator who led efforts in Pennsylvania to overturn the 2020 election. 

After Las Vegas and Philadelphia the largest spending areas are Boston, Phoenix and Portland. 

The Boston media market covers New Hampshire, where Republican Don Bolduc is trying to knock off Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan. 

In Arizona, of which Phoenix is the most populated region, there are tight races for governor and U.S. Senate. 

And in Oregon a Republican, Christine Drazan,  against Democrat Tina Kotek and independent Betsy Johnson.

Fifty-seven percent of GOP ads are negative, versus 47 percent of Democratic ads. 

With Democratic President Joe Biden in the White House and Democrats holding majorities in the House and Senate, Republicans are running ads against their records, while Democrats are touting their accomplishments. 

Overall, the most expensive Senate race is in Georiga, with Republican hopeful Herschel Walker trying to beat Democratic incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock. 

There, Republicans have spent $41.89 million, versus Democrats who have spent nearly as much: $41.61 million. 

After that, Democrats have spent $39.45 million on the Pennsylvania Senate race, while Republicans' next biggest total is the $33.4 million they've spent to keep Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson in power. 

The third-most Republicans have spent is in Pennsylvania, with Nevada closely following. Whereas for Democrats the No. 3 race has been in Arizona, in an attempt to keep Sen. Mark Kelly in his seat in a race against Republican Blake Masters. 

For governors races, Florida's race - which polling doesn't show to be competitive - is where Republicans have spent the most money - $34.31 million to keep Gov. Ron DeSantis in charge. 

Democrats have spent the most money trying to give a boost to Texas gubernatorial hopeful Beto O'Rourke in his charge against Texas' Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. 

A  showed Abbott 11 points ahead. 

The Texas race has overall been the most expensive, as Republicans are throwing more money at it than Democrats are in Florida.
